Saturday witnessed the first U14 tournament in Moray with 3 teams from Buckie, Lossiemouth and Forres all taking to the court at Elgin Academy. This was the first opportunity for these newly formed teams to show what they have learnt since their respected clubs had developed. Forres had the advantage of being formed for the longest and this began to show with their fast play, quick passing and great shooting. Their was tremendous support from some of the older eagles players volunteering their time to coach, referee and table official. The day ended with Forres taking full points, Lossiemouth in second and Buckie third. The Eagles are looking to host more tournaments in the near future.
Elgin Eagles senior mens team in its first season has surprised the competition and themselves to take home both the cameron cup and grampian league cup. It has been a tremendous season with a great team effort to ensure that the eagles finished the season with an excellent winning streak. Bring on next season.
Okay so after throwing away a 6 point advantage from the first half in their first game of the highland winter league they hit it hard on the training court to return with an impressive historical first ever win. They displayed an improved defensive determination with some swooping attacking moves to surprise their coach with a fantastic win. Such a surprise that the coach wasnt aware of the win until two days later he was having too much fun watching an impressive performance from his team. There were some exceptional performances particularly from two of Lossiemouth high school youngsters coming off the bench to make some 3 point plays. The future of the club looks much brighter.
